At the meeting on Monday night, the RESCUE MUNI Steering Committee voted
not to adopt as policy the item described by Mark, namely an element in
the Governance Committee report that said that there should be no fare
increase.
We did not, as Marc suggests, vote to SUPPORT a fare increase. No such
vote was taken, but I would bet you dollars to on time Muni buses that
had such a motion been on the floor it would have been soundly defeated.
Instead, the RM Steering Committee has chosen to take NO position on a
fare increase, which I think is a very reasonable thing to do, and I
would invite members' comments on that position.
(We did soundly defeat a downtown assessment district, which I also think
was an eminently reasonable thing to do.)
