There's an idea floating around that a solution to the current Fine
Arts Museums problems in Golden Gate Park might be to put a rail
extension from the N Judah tracks near 9th Ave into the Park,
circling the Music Concourse. (On these tracks would run a special
F-Market "GGP Excursion" line from downtown.)

What do you think of this solution to the "we want the De Young, but
not more cars" situation? and how much would it cost?

Reply:
A few years ago this idea came up during the Master Plan discussions. Muni
said it would cost about $1 million. Sounded expensive then, but pretty
cheap now that a garage would be over $10 million.

We need to keep generating creative ideas and come up with an alternative
plan to the trustees' idea of building a 300-700 car garage in Golden Gate
Park.
