This is a good point. Actually the thought was more artistic: having the old streetcars act as special envoys to the park would be quite a bit more romantic than putting everybody on the crowded 7.

All political fights are temporary and taken out of context probably can be regretted. The regret is the important ingredient. Understanding other directions, and the goals of the first trip, are better than shrugging everything off.

It's even better when you consider the cost of creating more long term auto traffic pressure on the western city, and on the park in particular.
