In response to Donald's comment about the Breda complaints: I have lived on
the N-Judah line for over 20 years and can tell from the back of my house if
the streetcar passing is a Breda or an LRV.
The Bredas are a lot heavier and in some places the tracks and sub "floor"
were not built to handle the weight so the house really shakes. The whinning
noise from the Bredas made Carl St sound like an airport runway.
Muni has grinded the tracks and redesigned the Bredas to lessen the whine, and
they have plans to redo the sub structure under the tracks in certain
locations. I feel that they have responded appropriately to the complaints.
