Muni riders - and Rescue Muni members - are understandably FURIOUS about
this week's Metro service. We need YOUR help to capture this anger and
channel it to the people in charge - Mayor Brown, the Board of
Supervisors, and Director Emilio Cruz.
This FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, come to EMBARCADERO STATION (yes, it will be
crowded) at 5 PM. Help us get 1000 signatures on a petition demanding:
- RESOLUTION of the Metro crisis, by whatever means are required. The
taxpayer has paid through the nose for this project, and for what?
- COMPLETE, ACCURATE COMMUNICATIONS from Muni at all times regarding
Metro problems. This includes:
+ DAILY press announcements of EXACTLY how many cars were delayed or
didn't run, until the system is meeting its goals
+ ACCURATE station announcements of what cars will be coming and how
long they will take
+ FULL information for drivers and riders from Central Control
+ DETAILED advice on alternatives to Metro
- IMMEDIATE adoption of a new BART/Fast Pass agreement - if Muni doesn't
work, we MUST have this alternative.
We need lots of volunteers, so if you can come for even one hour, your
help would be GREATLY appreciated. Please send email to me,
andrew@sulli.org, to let me know that you can come. Comments on the
petition are also welcome.
NOTE TO BIKERS: Critical Mass is at 6 PM. Embarcadero Station is right
next to Justin Herman Plaza - come Rescue Muni before you get on your
bike!
Thanks,
Andrew Sullivan
