not to be too flip, but, you are looking at a signifigant cost per
vehicle, in addition to any fixed installations. Then you have to have
some sort of data acquisition/processing/reduction system that can
handle something on the rough order of 1,000,000 datapoints per day
(each datapoint including: time, location, direction, identity) and
compare them to the ideal. Of course, this would also have to be
interfaced with any orders given by central control or street
inspectors, as well as service status from the vehicle. Once you have
the useful information, you have to retransmit to any street level
displays and archive/report information for management action(?)
