SPECIAL MESSAGE FOR SFBC MEMBERS:
In less than 3 weeks, the city will decide the fate of the ill-fated
Central Freeway. By supporting "Yes on Proposition E" SFBC members can
help
bury the Freeway once and for all. So many of the SFBC's efforts
throughout
the city depend on the message voters send Nov. 3rd through Prop. E: we
must show that we are not willing to sacrifice the livability of our city
for unbridled automobile traffic.
Please choose at least one of the following actions in the next 20 days:
1) Attend a great fundraising party Sunday, Oct. 18th at 390 Page St.
(corner of Buchanan) featuring the film "Taken for a Ride" which documents
the conspiracy by the auto and oil companies to destroy Americans
streetcar
systems. Showings at 2pm and 4pm in a magnificent victorian home.
Refreshments will be served. Suggested donations: $25-$1000.
2) Join an SFBC Phone Bank night at Prop. E headquarters. We'll be
gathering Monday, Oct. 19 and Monday, Oct. 26, 6-9pm at 1929 Market near
Guerrero. Fun people, great way to turn out the vote. Call Leah at
431-BIKE, x-2 to sign up.
(If you can't make those nights, call 835-3159 to find out about daily
volunteer opportunities.)
3) If you can't donate time, send a check made out to "San Franciscans for
a Better Freeway" to 14 Laguna Street, SF 94102. Include your address,
phone number, place of employment and address and occupation with your
donation (this is required by law). Every little bit helps.
4) Stop by the SFBC office to pick up a Prop. E window sign. 1095 Market
St. @ 7th St, Ste. 215
5) CALL & REMIND 5 FRIENDS TO VOTE YES ON PROP. E ON TUES., NOV. 3.
