>BTW I have been told by MUNI workers at Embarcadero that ATCS communicates individually with each LRV--thus all must have on board hardware. It was about a century ago that multiple unit control was invented for streetcars in Richmond Va. So what incredinly bright soul bpought a system that obliterated that idea?

If the LRV's in Metro always ran in MU consists...married pair/triplet
configurations, it would make sense for only one car to have ACTS
equipment, however, cars often run singly, so all cars must be
equipped. I don't think that each car communicates seperately with
ACTS, altho ACTS does have to know how long each train is.

As a side note, Muni's first streetcar (order) was MU capable, although
not so equipped

Boeing LRV 1213 has been retired from active duty and assigned to the
Historic Fleet...is now being equipped with trolley poles. UGHH!

The first batch of new (ok...OLD) Milan Peter Witt cars are being
prepared for shipment

Milan has equipped a (few?) Peter Witts for use as classrooms...painted
a very modern gray scheme, with 2 + 1 classroom seating, carpet,
etc...very sharp looking.

The Skoda trolleybus prototypes have been delayed by 30 days

A fairly cheap and quick way of speeding boarding and reducing
park-in-bus-zone conflicts are bus bulbs

If most of the first order of Breda's is nearly done, and the 2nd order
is being awarded now, how long a gap will there be between the two
orders?
