The bulbs are also a ped safety measure, shortening the distance to
cross a street, making it more difficult for cars to corner at high
speed, and taking away a car's incentive to wait in the crosswalk
before turning right on red.
Check out the bulbs in the Duboce Triangle (Sanchez and Noe Streets,
from Market to Duboce). The street furniture and low plantings on the
bulbs were part of the plan, also.
