[Rescue Muni] Lots of stuff

Oops! I hadn't thought of this. I withdraw my complaint.

Also, there were some significant errors in my last message
re. BART funding, a result of writing too late at night. Of
course, BART's operating subsidy is approximately equal to
MUNI's, not three times as I stated. Of course, since MUNI
carries three times the riders, the per-passenger subsidy on
BART is three times that of MUNI. Sorry for any confusion.

New subject: A friend of mine asked me if I knew anything
about the 5-Fulton. (I don't, so I'm asking here.) They
claim that the route used to go all the way downtown, but
was truncated sometime in the last few weeks, and no longer
does go downtown. Is this true? If so, why?

And a complaint of my own: In theory, I could take either
the 27-Bryant or the 9-San Bruno home, yet since the
outbound busses stop on opposite sides of Bryant at Market,
it is impossible to get across traffic in time to catch the
one you are not waiting for. I have to choose one, and then
inevitably (it seems) watch the other go by out of reach.
Why aren't stops coordinated, especially for routes going in
the same general direction?

I thought it interesting that, while rail on the bridge
would clearly benefit San Francisco more than the other
communities, it won here by the lowest margin. It did win,
so I shouldn't complain, but this also shows that you can
always count on San Francisco to shoot herself in the foot
in the economic competition with the suburbs.
