As far as I can tell (I live on the 5) it still goes downtown, however,
after 7pm and before 5am it only goes to 7th and Market. Icky.
>And a complaint of my own: In theory, I could take either the 27-Bryant or the 9-San Bruno home, yet since the outbound busses stop on opposite sides of Bryant at Market, it is impossible to get across traffic in time to catch the one you are not waiting for. I have to choose one, and then inevitably (it seems) watch the other go by out of reach. Why aren't stops coordinated, especially for routes going in
the same general direction?
lets see: 9 stops on the streetcar island nearside on Market at 5th, 27
stops curbside on 5th at Market. 27 is a crosstown line, 9 is a radial
line. Short of moving the streetcar island to farside (unsafe) or
rerouting the 27 (impractical) I don't see any solution to your
problem...however, if you have a regular time you ride, you should be
able to determine the regular times for the 27...especially if there is
a regular driver you could ask the time at Market. In general, the 27
Market St stop is most convenient for passengers starting or terminating
their trips there or transferring to Market St service.
In general, parallel service is fairly well served...5/21/31/38 and
6/7/71/N quadruplets come to mind. My personal condolences for having
to depend on the 9.
