HOW TO USE MUNI
THIS NEW YEAR'S EVE

Lines: J K L M N 5 14 22 24 38 90 91

Muni will suspend fare collections and provide service free of charge from 8
p.m. to 3 a.m. on New Year's Eve.

Additionally, Muni will extend the hours of Metro service, from its usual
closing time of midnight to 3 a.m. Muni will also add buses to its regular
Owl Service, which replaces Muni's regular schedule between the hours of 1
a.m. and 5 a.m.

To cover all this additional service, Muni is calling in extra bus and train
operators, as well as station attendants, street inspectors and maintenance
workers.

It is important that Muni riders recognize that while service is being
enhanced during the early morning hours of this holiday event, the number of
Muni lines in service between midnight and 5 a.m. is limited.

Specifically, Muni will keep all five Metro lines running through 3 a.m.,
though bus shuttles will be used to cover some of the surface-level areas of
Metro routes. These lines are the J, K, L, M and N.

Muni will double the number of buses running on its Owl Service lines
through 3 a.m., essentially cutting headways from 30 minutes to 15 minutes
on the 14, 22, 24, 38, 90 and 91 lines.

Muni riders should remember that, although service will be free on all Muni
lines from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. New Year's Eve, non-Owl surface lines will not
be running between 1 and 5 a.m. - so if they're planning on taking Muni home
in the early morning hours, they must arrange to get home from the areas
served by Owl or Metro lines.
