The 1999 Muni Riders' Survey is almost upon us.
We are planning to run another survey in February (specific dates to be
announced shortly).
Last year Muni was graded 'C', with most Metro lines graded 'D' or 'F'.
Now that big bucks have been spent on Booz-Allen, ATCS, &c &c, how will
Muni do this year? We shall see.
It is my hope that we will again significantly increase participation
(and data quality) to provide the city the best measure yet of Muni
performance. Last year we had over 3,000 data points from 147
volunteers, and we have doubled our membership since then, so we should
be able to do rather well.
To make the survey a success, we need YOUR help! If you can help with
the survey in any of the following areas, please email me ASAP at
andrew@sulli.org. In particular, if you have been waiting for the right
time to run a Rescue Muni project ... these areas all need coordinators:
* phone tree: we should call all previous participants and other members
if possible
* flyers: mailing to members, and distribution at key stops
throughout the city
* monitoring key stops and times
* publicity (newspaper announcements, neighborhood groups, etc.)
* number crunching & data analysis
* putting up posters
* report writing
I hope to have a Survey Team (not Committee) meeting the week of 1/18.
If you'd like to participate in that, please also let me know.
Thanks!
Andrew
