Not really. From the turn-around at the end of Van Ness, it is a
less-than five minute, beautiful walk around the headland to the Marina
Green. Many people may not be aware of it, but the sidewalk extends
from the base of the pier, up the hill and around the Youth Hostil, to a
stairway down to Fort Mason. I know that this is not suitable for
people who are not able to walk, but for everyone else, Fort Mason
access is actually very easy.

Also, there is an existing un-used one-way train tunnel under the
headland. It should be relatively easy to extend the F-line through
this tunnel. There is an existing right-of-way (the rails are still
there, albeit covered with pavement) all the way out the Marina Green.
I'm not sure how far they go, but it is well into Crissy Field.
