My last two trips on the 3-Jackson on Saturdays are ridiculous...60
minute round trip with 15 minutes on one end, and 4 on the other. So 41
minutes running time...with normal passenger load (light) and normal
traffic (medium) the actual running time (without running like a scared
rabbit) is about 56 minutes, tonight, with heavy bridge traffic backing
up across Market and heavy party activity around Union Square, the
actual running time was nearer 65 minutes. From Presidio to Polk: 12
minutes to go 28 blocks, 9 turns, 14 stoplights (4 of which are
anti-timed), 10 stop signs, 21 possible passenger stops, 9 blocks of
congested commercial streets (none of which are wider than 2
lanes)...weekdays with similar psgr load and traffic we have 18 or 19
minutes. I'm not a slow driver, but I'm not even going to attempt it, I
aim to leave Presidio on time on my second to last trip, expect to
drive two loops without stopping and put in an overtime card when I
pull in, 20 minutes this Saturday. But, on the other hand, that's the
only bit of my block where stupid scheduling makes it impossible to keep
the schedule.
