Tom Wetzel was wondering about ridership statistics from MUNI in the
discussion about the F line cutbacks. I don't know specifically but I can
offer this. A year or so ago when Cruz had his community meetings I went to
one and ask a question about ridership surveys. It was one of the few times
in a very polished performance that Cruz seemed to think he was getting an
odd question from right field. He answered that yes they do do surveys
every 2 years to comply with Federal regulations but that the big problem
was getting busses out and I could see that counting passengers was not very
high priority.
The interchange struck me as a good example how mUNI's culture is quite
free of even the concept of marketing their service. So while I don't know
for a fact it would not surprise me at all if the only numbers they have
from the whole F line experiment are farebox counts.
