A number of conferences on climate change are planned for the next few
months that may be of interest to state and local officials:

Earth Technologies Forum, April 22-24, 2003, Washington, DC
This annual conference hosted by the U.S. EPA provides information on
climate change and stratospheric ozone protection. Three days of conference
sessions will provide a forum for discussion of current technologies and
efforts to bring them into the marketplace, as well as sessions on state
greenhouse gas mitigation action, public-private partnerships with local
government, and heat islands.

Greenhouse Gas Registries, May 4-6, 2003, San Francisco, CA
Sponsored by the California Climate Action Registry, IETA, and BP, the
conference will examine the role of greenhouse gas registries in corporate
and public climate change policy. The agenda includes plenary sessions and
information-sharing workshops.

Air and Waste Management Audio/Web Conference, May 5, 2003
The Air & Waste Management Association will hold an audio and Web
conference on President Bush=92s Climate Change Challenge. This meeting will
take a closer look at the Challenge and explore what industries and
businesses are doing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Participants will
hear from companies that currently are participating in voluntary reporting
programs, including descriptions of the lessons they have learned so far.

Climate Solutions for the Northeast, May 11-13, 2003, Hartford, CT
The conference will focus on the solutions and leadership necessary to meet
climate action goals adopted by the governors of the New England states,

ICLEI-CCP 10th National Training Workshop, May 28-31, 2003, Denver, CO
The Tenth National Training Workshop for ICLEI Cities for Climate
Protection Campaign jurisdictions will focus on systemic approaches to
creating the ideal =93Climate Protection Community of the Future.=94 The
workshop is co-sponsored by the Cities of Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins,
and Aspen, and the University of Colorado=92s Wirth Chair in Environmental
and Community Development Policy.

Greening Rooftops for Sustainable Communities, May 29-30, 2003, Chicago, IL
The event will provide a unique opportunity to strengthen and broaden the
growing constituency of policy makers, researchers, designers,

by the City of Chicago, a leader in green roof industry research,
