***Governments Invited to Apply for Harvard University's Innovations Awards
The Institute for Government Innovation at Harvard University is inviting
state, city, town, county, tribal, and territorial governments to apply for
its 2004 Innovations in American Government Awards. Federal agencies also
may apply. The application deadline is June 27, 2003.
The awards recognize outstanding examples of creative problem-solving in
the public sector. To be eligible, programs must be currently operating, be
administered under the authority of one or more governmental entities,
receive at least half of their funding from one or more governmental
entities, and must have been launched before January 1, 2003.
Application forms and more details on the awards are available at
http://www.innovations.harvard.edu/content.cfm?activesection=8.
Innovations Award winners receive national press attention, serve as models
for replication, and become the subjects of research and case studies at
leading schools and universities. Winners of the 2003 awards were announced
in May, and included Efficiency Vermont, the nation's first statewide
energy efficiency utility.
