If you cannot make it, check out our "newly designed" website for updates on
our work to protect the forest and peoples of the Amazon Basin at
http://www.amazonwatch.org
Amazon Watch works with indigenous and environmental organizations in the
Amazon Basin to defend the environment and advance indigenous peoples'
rights in the face of large-scale industrial development-oil & gas
pipelines, power lines, roads, and other mega-projects.
P.S. DON'T FORGET!!!
The Empowering Democracy Conference, a conference for those of us who are
challenging corporate rule, is this week, Oct 9-11 at the First Unitarian
Church(685 14th St.) in Oakland.
Humberto Piaguaje, a Secoya indigenous leader from the Ecuadorian Amazon and
Mariana Jimenez, a campesina woman from the Ecuadorian Amazon, will speak on
a panel on "International Collaboration" on Friday morning at 9am. A
workshop on "International Collaboration" will follow.
