JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: SIERRA CLUB, SAN FRANCISCO BAY CHAPTER
COMMUNITY ORGANIZER
Sierra Club, the nation=92s oldest and largest environmental group, is
interviewing Community Organizers to coordinate local volunteer campaigns.
This is an outstanding opportunity for individuals interested in grassroots
political organizing. One position will focus primarily on Marin County,
California.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
+ Organize a strong volunteer base.
+ Identify neighborhood leaders among Sierra Club members in the various
communities.
+ Coordinate grassroots electoral campaigns to elect local environmental
leaders and pass local environmental legislation.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
+ One year professional experience managing volunteer grassroots efforts
+ Strong interest in environmental and grassroots politics
+ Commitment to the democratic and electoral process
+ Strong written and oral communication skills
+ Any fundraising experience is a plus, including grassroots fundraising.
SALARY, BENEFITS AND TERM
Annual salary is $30,000 to $34,000 with full benefits including =
competitive
medical and dental. Position is funded for six months with possibility of
developing into a permanent position.
