The San Francisco Natural History Series presents
Kermit in a Coal Mine - Tenacious tree frogs in our own "Wild City"
by the bay
with Chris Giorni, founder and director of TREE FROG TREKS
Imagine the infamous discovery of "Michigan J Frog" from the old
Warner Bros. Bugs Bunny cartoons of yesteryear signing his song loud
and clear in the middle of the bustling city. Right here in San
Francisco we have croaking tree frogs, howling coyotes and calling
hawks. Although Global Amphibian Decline has taken its toll on a
huge array of frogs world wide we are lucky to have an amazing
population of pre-gold rush amphibian hold outs scattered in and
around our own "Wild City". In this local frog talk we will meet and
greet Pacific Tree Frogs, a Bull Frog invader, a Western Toad
gardener's best friend and learn how they have survived our sky
scrapers and paving projects. We will open up a discussion of how we
can help combat Global Amphibian Decline and keep Kermit from
becoming the proverbial canary in the coal mine.

August 23 - Gordon Frankie will be here to discuss what you can plant
in your garden to support NATIVE bees, more important than ever now
as honeybees disappear worldwide. Yes, he will be here in August
rather than in June due to a series of events beyond anyone's control!
