It has been an incredible few months of action and victories for
environmental justice. The last month has seen two truly historic victories
with the closing of the dangerous hazardous waste facilities run by polluter
"Romic Environmental Technologies" on the Gila River Indian Community in
Arizona and in East Palo Alto, California. These victories were won by the
united effort of the Gila River Alliance for a Clean Environment, Youth
United for Community Action and Greenaction - and many friends and allies.
Together we pressured this giant corporation to close their polluting
facilities and forced state and federal officials to take action to
terminate Romic's permits, bringing a successful end to years of organizing.

On the website you can check out more about the victories against Romic, and
also to news from Bayview Hunters Point including the August 25th March for
Environmental Justice that targeted problems with the toxic cleanups going
on at the now-closed PG&E Hunters Point power plant site and the Hunters
Point Naval Shipyard. You can also read about our new campaigns and new
office in the San Joaquin Valley, and about our new work helping communities
in Japan, Malaysia and the Philippines fighting polluters.
