Projects
Well, these are a few little projects I have going at the moment.
- pixel [11/11/01]
So mozilla's flakey faux pas file manager interface for getting around file:/// urls was starting to irk me while trying to navigate a bunch of image galleries I had downloaded. (I happened to like the html pages that navigator 4.x would generate when browsing.) Instead of doing the intelligent thing and searching freshmeat for something to do it for me, I reinvented the wheel and made my own indexing program.
- uscanner for FreeBSD 4.1.1 [deprecated] [9/30/00]
A usb scanner driver for FreeBSD. Well, none of this is my work really, I just changed the patchfile so that it would use a different major number that had been taken up in the .1 release by a new gigabit ethernet driver and included the newer usbdevs header files that you need for it to work. Check out the FreeBSD USB page, as well as the original post of the driver by Mr. Hibma.
- textwrap 3.01 [8/4/00]
After downloading a bunch of text files, I was disspointed to find out that they weren't formatted. Just long lines of text that would wrap around the console. Part of the deal was that words would be spread across lines, and it was just painful to read it. Anywho, this puts a newline character behind every 60 characters plus the next complete word. (You can change that by defining MAX_LENGTH as whatever you want). It wraps text. Just redirect the output into the new file. Oh, and if you're wondering where I got the 3.x from, there were four different procedures I went through, this being the fourth.
- unnamed game project [7/18/00]
This is a yet-to-be-named text based game project I'm mucking around with. Its still mainly rooted in the ideas that the illianthar engine was based on, however, its still in development, while I grapple with dynamic memory management. See inside for more details.
- ShadowLands; The Illianthar Venture [4/25/99]
Every now and then I fool around with qbasic and pretend I'm a programmer, then
I realize I'm not and stop messing with it for a while, during one of these brief
periods, I made a game engine. The zip contains the executable, area file, and source code
for the game, anywho, go ahead and use it as you see fit.
- JukeBox for mIRC v2.5
Added a new feature or two, have fun.
- Like a Thief in the Night [4/6/99]
Added part Six, enjoy!
- JukeBox for mIRC v2.4 released. [4/2/99]
JukeBox for mIRC is a script addon which allows one to play and listen for sound
events containing mp3 files. In non-nerd speak, or, layman's terms, it lets you play
mp3s through mIRC. Be aware though, that it is not
a stand alone application, and requires an external app to play the mp3s themselves
(WinAmp works best with the script). Oh, again, in
non-nerd lingo, that meant you need an mp3 player already in order to use the script.
- The Nation Formerly Known as 2210 [4/1/99]
This is a webpage I'm helping my friend Greylark design. It will represent the new nation of 2210
- "Like a Thief in the Night", is now up to date with what I've written so far [3/16/99]
This is my first attempt at writing a story from the first person perspective, and I'm finding
some of the sentence structure becoming a bit repetitive, so I try to use as many different
phrasing of words as I can, but I don't like how some of it is coming out. Please, tell me what you think
by mailing me.
- Moved JukeBox related files. [3/11/99]
There are so many versions of JukeBox and a whole bunch of other things related
to it, so I moved everything to its own page: the JukeBox page.
- "Like a Thief in the Night" [3/4/99]
This is a little story I've been meaning to put together, and, it actually came
out better than I had thought it would. So far I've gotten halfway into the first
chapter and have most of the plotlines and characters planned out.
The story itself takes place in a fictional past where magic is highly prized
by the wealthy and technology is still in its development. The story itself is very
loosely based around the world of Thief: the Dark Project.
I think I'd had enough of writing stories about the good guy, I wanted to write
something a bit darker so, here it is. Enjoy. Note: hasn't been spell checked or
read over yet, you may come across a few errors.
