  1a: The period or amount of time during which someone or something has existed.
  1b: Something to discriminate against.

Imagine that you're driving down the road one night after you've just gotten off of work. You've on your way home when a police car pulls out from the side of the road behind you and turns on his siren, bewildered, you pull over to the shoulder of the road and wait as he gets out of his car and steps up to your window. He informs you that because of who and what you are, you aren't allowed to be outside this late.

Quirking an eyebrow, you ask if he's joking. He isn't. You are then hauled off to the local police station and either you call someone who is like him, or spend the night in jail. Sound illegal? Nope. Its called curfew.

This isn't anything new. If you or (if you have any), your children have gotten drivers' licenses in California recently, you were probably alerted that anyone under eighteen cannot drive around with anyone else who is under eighteen without someone over twenty five being present in the car. Confused? So am I.

One would think thats called age discrimination. It is. But according to the state, teen drivers cause accidents and other things, etc. If we use this logic then the 75% of people who cause accidents on the road are adults, so therefore, we should restrict them. Why hasn't this happened already? Because no one will stand for it. Older people also cause accidents on the road, so why don't we restrict them?

This is because youth are the least represented group of people in the US. The media glamorizes us as hoodlums who go around carrying guns, burning churches, joining the KKK, killing our parents, killing each other, causing accidents, being irresponsible and generally being a pain to society. I'll admit there are some stupid youth out there, but there are alot of stupid adults out there, too.

We are being punished for something we can't help.
