where the soles
of the feet meet the floor
the sun shines suddenly first this morning
footbones rayed through flesh arrayed
the normal order the order prayed for
even when excitement arranges the mind
thinking Oh for a difference when young
superficial knowing nothing of structure
under the bridge protection even concealment
and the current we arent crossing
some time taking the shade and watching
brilliance once more shake the day
the willows the edges water scoops into sand
we know we could dross in the glare if we wanted
or even wait till the moon shining over
moving feet the same chalky color
as the macadam and wishes worn like collars
